Introducing..... Monsteys!

Spring came to these parts around 2pm. The sun came out. The warm air blew by. Just awesome. I  already had a walk around the grounds in search of spring growth.
Here's a sighting...

 Whut the wha?

It's Monsty!
Of my very own design! I think this one has a Justin Beiber sweep of hair.
This monsty design has elements I've tried on various lovies for the past few years, but they never quite worked.
When I put them together with the fur, happiness!
I have a few ideas to modify these new friends.
Do you like their fluffy feet?

Happy to be joining Creative Friday and Friday's Nature table Go have a look at these great sites and inspirations!

2 more Market bags and Spring shopping fling!

Hey, how goes? Just to let you know, I have a facebook page now for By Hook and Thread.
I just have to get it linked on my side bar. Go have a look and "like" me.

Ok, Ok, just a few more....
I found a box of my fabric perfect for this market bag. It's good for knitting too! gasp!!
How's the spring weather where you are?
It's very windy here. That brings the cold. CCCCCCCoooold.

On Saturday, I'll be in Bridgewater at the Spring Shopping Fling with my wares.

Event for Home Base Businesses. There will be no entry fee for buyers, just a food/money donation for the Food Bank.
We will be donating profits after the costs associated with the event are paid to the Food Bank.
April 6, 2-4pm,
Michelin Social Club  221 Logan Road, Bridgewater NS

Maybe I'll see you there? Come say hello. I'll be with a few other crafty ladies from Shelburne.

Ciao,
Amanda

Owl lovey

I've talked before about making things from the amazing Abby Glassenberg.
Here is the bear beastie bag, duck bag, caterpillar and butterfly and chick and egg reversible toys that I've made before. I even adapted the chick and egg pattern to make this angry bird.
This time, I tried the Lovey Dovey.

In the softest of fabrics evah.
Once again, Abby's patterns are very clear, precise and lots of pictures. It was the first time I used a gusset. It's not scary at all.
I'm keeping my eye out for other soft fabrics to make a different animal next. There are four different animals in this pattern set. Great deal!

We're all a little under the weather here. Not enough to put you in bed to rest, but enough to not want to do anything, just relax, but the guilt factor gets you up to do something. I highly recommend Riccola throat thingys. Cured me a few times today and it's tasty too!

Have a good one,
Amanda

a wee egg hunt

On Saturday, we met a friend who decided last minute to have an egg hunt.
Nestled between the water and the end of the road was a little clearing.
 Perfect for an egg hunt.
As a good hunt has, the eggs were everywhere!
Many kinds and not all the chocolate variety.
The children were gathered and given the number they could possess at the end.
If you had more, you could share with others.
I wonder who lives in here?
Looking for the last hidden ones.
 Comparing the loot!
 Enjoying the sunshine.

Too much Chocolate.:}

It was a very nice day to gather last minute and just be. outside.

Cheers,
Amanda

Peggie Swap!

I joined Peg Swap with Margaret from We Bloom Here.
One of my swap partners was Stephanie from The Knitty Gritty Homestead.
Even with her 4 kids and the life that swirls around that, she was the first one to get hers in the mail.

Just look at that hand work! I imagine her sitting with a cup of tea in a quiet spot of her day to do this. :} I'm sure the reality may be quite different, I'm choosing to stick with my story.
 Double sided wings!
 And she knit the clothes.
A moth! A moth! Who woulda thought to make a moth?
Love the fuzzy wool she used too.
We are enjoying our little friends. More so since they last a lot longer the the daffodils.

Thanks Stephanie! We love them. Now you have to guess what I sent to you. I posted them last week... both in the mail and on the blog.
And thanks Margaret for hosting the swap. ' tis lovely indeed!
Happy Saturday.

market bag in orange. and teal. and yellow

Somebody stop me! I can't stop! Well, just a few more and I'll move on to something else.
Little peek at the inside pockets and binding at the bottom.
3 pretty bags, all in a row.
While I was out on this shoot in the deceivingly cool day, I wandered in the woods to look for signs of Spring.
Instead, I found lots of this!
There are great questions around here on where the deer sleep and where the buck may be and will there be any fawn this year. We could google the life of deer I suppose to educate ourselves.
This path was across the property. I thought it was deer, but it goes into a tree,
just behind where I was standing.
And instead of deer hoof prints, there were these. Anyone know what they are?
Do you think it's a racoon?
And a shot of the yard from an angle you don't usually see. Just at the edge of the woods, from the previous picture with all the bags hanging, looking towards the pond. Those blue barrels were a floating dock. We're hoping to put one of those in the pond sometime too.
And one more look.
Cheers,
Amanda

thrifty treasures

Today I found a few treasures at the Sally Anne. It's been awhile since I've found any, so this is super nice.

I love crewel work. Changing the direction of the thread makes a difference in texture and detail.

And a smaller squirrel one.

These works need to be cleaned up. Anyone have any tips? I don't know if the dyes in the wool will bleed and I don't want to find out the hard way. A lot of time when into these treasures.

I also found this fabric! A gem yes?! It's almost a duck fabric, so a little thicker.

Most perfect for making another market bag like this one! And this one in merimekko!

Love making these bags for now and hope to have a little collection to sell at the market!

Oh, look for me on face book. I have a new page. By Hook and Thread.
I'll put the link up when I figure it out!

Cheers,
Amanda
