Bunnies in a basket WIP

I spent 2 glorious days in my studio.. playing. Exploring, taking my time. Enjoying the process.
Wanna see what's ready for some hand sewing?

This little one is compliments of Abby at While She Naps, Sophia, the Bunny.
I need to work on the ear positioning. I think it shows more like a yoda or something.
Ear and eye positioning is very important people!
I used a beaded sack in the bottom as she suggests. It has a nice clunk to it when you put it down, but the stuffing makes it oh so squeezable.
Next up is Betz White's Cashmere Bunny. I've made this before here with fleece and experimenting with the tail. This soft cashmere version is great. I forgot to show you the ears. It's like the heart. And it will have a little felted wool bead as the tail.
And lastly, in my bunny making, is this little lad from Abby's book, Stuffed Animals.
I was so excited to finally make him. He's been in my brain for far too long. I love that his ears match his pants. I wonder what kind of face he will have??
That's what's been in my basket. Hoping to do a little finishing on at least one of them tonight.
Please let the children go to bed in a timely manner before I get too tired! :}
Have a good one

WIP ( works in Progress)

WOW! Did you get hit by the bug?
Everyone in town that i know has been touched by the bug. Everyone!!
I didn't even escape it, but the boys in our house did. Still waiting for it to hit them.
So yesterday, my day to be vertical, but not in full motion, I finally started this project which has been living in my brain since I saw it many months ago.
EEKK!!! Can you believe it? I've been following Mimi's Blog for many years now. And to actually get some of the secrets of construction.. like the hair and limbs. Priceless.
This is a project of process, not the end result. I'm enjoying sewing slowly instead of cranking it out.

I have many ideas for mittens to come, but with a request to sew toddler mittens,
I had to fancy it up a bit.
i think with the multi layers of the puppet mitten, it will be too small. So I made a single layer cashmere one to see if the stretch will help the fit.
 On the table this week...
Bird Puzzle that is being completed mostly by daddy and Rafael.
neve's highly anticipated Kiwi Crate finally arrived!
Can I tell you.. it did not disappoint! It is such high quality and great activities in there.
As a crafter, I have to say, the materials are excellent. She went to work straight away.
I bought her and her cousins a 3 month subscription for Christmas. I may have to extend it.
If you buy into it, offer my name when they ask how you heard of it, I think we both get a credit?

Anyhow, also on the table are the walkie talkies.
That means the kids have been riding bikes outside.
YES!
We had a very long few days with rain. It makes riding bike much easier to have clear roads.
But alas, short lived, it's snowing now.
We'll put the walkie talkies on the charger for another time.

How have you been filling the looming winter days lately?

Ciao,
Amanda

how have you been?

Well Howdy!
It's been a long time since I've had a day to sew. Still haven't had a full one, but the little bits in the past few days feels good.
Here's some of what all has been going on between entertaining overnight guests
and travelling to the city.
We have 2 more fawns! They were very skittish. I scared them away. Hope they come back soon.
My deer fence is great.
The garden is finally growing and the deer are still finding stuff to eat on our grounds.
 Who thinks my shaggy surfer boy should get a haircut? It looks like this most days after I pick him up from sailing school. When it dries, it has honest to goodness ringlets! I told him that any longer and it would be like a girl! :}
This week also saw us attending a baptism for 2 of our younger friends.
A genuine dunk 'em in the lake baptism.
 As the onlookers watched.
Even the occasional downpour and mist didn't dull this happy atmosphere. Really, how many people get to tell this kind of story?
Oh, did you come for some crafting? I made a trip to Lunenburg to pick up some new wool felt from
the Lunenburg Makery. I love me some new, bright coloured felt!
some new hairclips for the market.
Did you know that I now sell lemonade at the market too?! and iced tea.
 Basket of Monstys.
And a new one in the works...
Pire-onsty
 Just a bit more tweaking!
Better get back at it. Have a great weekend.
The focus this here will be the Canadian National Championships, here in our own little town!
Most exciting to host our Ontario friends and maybe a few Quebecers too!
Ciao,
Amanda

WIP and studio peek

On the work table today...
Pink and Blue Monsteys!
 Bear hand Puppets
Piggy hand puppets. I have a blue one in the line up too.
 Tooth Fairy Bags
And here is a peek at my almost finished studio
Look at all that floor space! You can bounce a ball in there!
 Still working on this nook.
And a view from the office.
A few corners left. YES! Although, the pile under the blue blanket in the right is sweater scraps for puppets. I don't have space to poke that, so it will have to continue to be a mound.
Now maybe I can hold some classes in here! Whadda think local ladies?
Ciao,
Amanda
